UNY "Combat" Tank Appears in I3E Kemenristekdikti

Weapon Robot V.1, or a tank product equipped with weapons to recognize enemies and attack through artificial intelligence, the work of lecturers and alumni of the Yogyakarta State University Faculty of Engineering was featured in the Innovation Innovator Indonesia Expo (I3E) held by the Ministry of Energy and Technology at Jogja City Mall at the end of October 2018 This I3E is an annual exhibition of innovations created by innovators throughout Indonesia under the guidance of the Director General for Strengthening Innovation.

The UNY battle tank itself is the work of Ponco Walipranoto, M.Pd., Rizki Edi Juwanto, M.Pd., Rio Nurtantyana, S.Pd. and Widiasto, S.Pd. Ponco explained that this combat vehicle is multipurpose which can be applied for the purposes of spying, assault vehicle, and infantry protection. "Mobilization is flexible because it uses a caterpillar track drive system, hybrid propulsion, with a gatling gun type," explained Ponco.

"The aiming system used uses a laser and telescope which has dual operating modes, namely auto and manual," he explained.

"The firing capability is adjusted to the battlefield, namely the geographical character of Indonesia so that a stabilizer is installed to put down the weapon if it is in an uneven terrain," continued the lecturer at the Department of Electronics Engineering and Infoematics.

As for the power source, this tank uses a dual channel system, namely a battery battery and a generator which allows conditions for self-charging, "he explained.

Furthermore, Ponco explained that the weapon products used were under a cooperation scheme with PT. Pindad Indonesia to ensure precision and test fire. "The operational target is Army troops, both Infantry and Battalion. Soldiers are equipped with software operating capabilities and robot configurations so that this tool can become the forefront of defense, before the army enters enemy territory, in the context of mapping, attacking and even starting the battle.

The dimensions of the tool with a weapon are 114.9 x 94.6 x 93 cm using a 3mm steel plate frame material with applications and a remote control range of 1 km2 radius using the Linux 14 operating system and Intel NUC i7 Hardware & 1080 pi HD Camera.

Meanwhile, the I3E 2018 event itself was opened by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Mohamad Nasir, at the Atrium Jogja City Mall. In his speech, Nasir emphasized that the government is very focused on supporting the development of startups in the country.
